After a long spell on the sidelines following a serious back injury, Burts is officially back - and he’s come back in style. Stronger, fitter, and more determined than ever, his first two races back have delivered some seriously impressive results and plenty of reasons to be excited for what’s coming next.
Burts made his long-awaited return at round three of the World Junior SuperEnduro Championship in Bilbao, and it didn’t take long for him to remind everyone what he’s capable of.
Charging straight into the mix, he finished equal fifth overall, narrowly placed sixth on count back.
A highlight came in race two, where Burts showed real confidence and speed by holding the lead for several laps before bringing it home in a well-earned fourth.
Strong performances, zero injury issues and no mechanicals made for a great return to racing. He now sits on the championship leaderboard with his sights firmly set on the next round in Budapest on January 31st.
Last weekend also marked the opening round of the Plews Tyres ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship, a series that’s stepping things up big time this year with a new promoter and a clear mission to put UK extreme enduro firmly on the world stage.
Plews Tyres announced a commercial partnership with the ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship back in December, underlining the brand’s long-term commitment to elite-level extreme enduro racing in the United Kingdom.
The series is in good hands as it represents the highest level of domestic extreme enduro in the UK, bringing together the most demanding events, the strongest rider line-ups, and a unified ACU structure.
With Wayne Braybrook of Raw Enduro at the helm, the series is run by people with deep, first-hand understanding of the discipline. Raw Enduro, as well as the other ACU Enduro Promoters who deliver the UK events are widely respected for delivering some of the most challenging and best-run extreme enduro events in the country, so we're looking forward seeing the series grow in the months ahead.

The 2026 Ballbreaker Extreme at Hapton in Lancashire was set to be the biggest event to date. With a raft of new spectator features, a cool new log challenge with over 180 logs facing riders before they plunge into the totally reworked quarry section, this was a visibly re-energised event which, despite the wintry weather saw a huge turnout.

Riders take to the start for the first race at Hapton in Lancashire.
Other Key Areas of interest previously known as the Ravine of Doom and the old favourite, the Monster Hill Double Trouble climb were renamed and re-routed to create the "Triple Threat" - one that that Triple D riders seemed to feel a certain affinity to!
The level of competition was clear from the off, with international stars Mario Roman and Francesca Morretti heading over from Spain to take on the challenge.
Triple D lined up with Burts and Dan Peace, and both riders absolutely delivered in what can only be described as savage conditions.

Burts takes his position on the start line (second from left).

Gnarly conditions at Hapton made it hard going for all the riders.
Rain, deep mud and freezing temperatures made it a true test between foot and throttle, but the boys kept pushing from start to finish. Dan Peace put in a mega ride to secure second place, while Burts dug deep to claim sixth in the pro class - a huge result considering the level of riders on the day. The team rolled out of the weekend buzzing.

Dan Peace takes the 2nd step after wild conditions in Lancashire.
Next up, Burts heads to Budapest for round four of FIM SuperEnduro on Sunday January 31st, before the Plews Tyres British Extreme series continues with Wild Willy's Extreme Enduro at Tong near Bradford on February 15th.
And for all those sports fans heading to Tong next month, listen out for Triple D gaffer Neil Crayston who's still on 'light duties' as he picks up the mic to offer a few words of encouragement to racers and spectators - the perfect warming antidote for any wintry weather.
